    Dubrovnik is located in Croatia on the south of Adriatic. It lies between the east coast of Adriatic Sea and hill Srđ. The whole Dubrovnik area contains a 250 kilometers of coastal belt which extends from Klek on the west and Cape Prevlaka on the east. The city with its surrounding parts contains of 143 square kilometers.
    Dubrovnik is affected by Mediterranean climate which is characterized with warm and dry summers and mild and wet winters. Average annual temperature is 16°C. The coldest month is January with average temperature of 8°C and the warmest is August with average temperature of 24°C. The city has more than 230 sunny days in a year and approximately 100 rainy days.
    According to the last demographic measurements which were held in 2001 the area of Dubrovnik has 43 000 residents.  According to the national composition of the population Croats contain 88%, Serbs 3.2% and Bosnians 3.1%. 84.5% of the population declared themselves to be members of the Roman Catholic religion.
