The Festivity of Saint Blaise in Dubrovnik, Croatia

For over a thousand years now, the people of Dubrovnik have been celebrating the Feast of St. Blaise. It is the day on which the doors of the City are thrown wide open. The release of a flock of white doves remind us of the priceless value of freedom. On this day, mass is celebrated in the church of St. Blasius, from which a festive procession starts its passage through the streets of the old city. The Feast of St. Blaisus celebrates the centuries old history of Dubrovnik.

Feast lasts several days, starting from the Candlemas Day, 2nd February, when the fest officially opens, until closing celebration, which falls on the first Sunday that follows.

During the Feast, series of church and secular concerts, exhibitions, book presentations and theatre guest performances dedicated to the patron saint will be held around Dubrovnik. On Candlemass Day there will be a solemn procession of numerous congregation members.
